    Operations Manager Responsible for the delivery of BSI’s products and services to clients within West Yorkshire and South Korea specifically, and world-wide as required, via a team of 15 Client Managers and selective use of specialist external resource.

    • Delivery of training to staff within the business - direct reports & others: job specific, product and technical.
    • Delivery of Gap Analysis to clients on compliance with Year 2000 changes to ISO9000.
    • Development of new products, e.g. Mature Quality Management Scheme (MQMS).

    Delta Crompton Cables Ltd - June 1988 to September 1992

    National Distribution Manager. Responsible for operation of National Distribution Centre, Leeds, for major Electric Cable manufacturer. Duties & Responsibilities included:

    • Original setting up of operation and infrastructure in new purpose-built distribution centre from green-field site;
    • Management of workforce: Drivers, Warehousemen & Sales staff;
    • Responsibility for Employment, Environmental, and Health & Safety legislation related to the organisation and its staff;
    • Acceptance of company products from 4 factories & other external suppliers, redistributing to local distribution centres throughout UK;
    • Distribution of products direct to customers in Northern England, and North Wales;
    • Responsibility for the security of Warehousing and Offices, and c.£25M of stock;
    • Maintenance of optimum stocking levels to balance demand with stockholding budgets ;
    • Determination of, and operation within, expenditure budgets;
    • Development, implementation and successful registration of Quality Management System meeting the requirements of BS5750 Part 2, throughout network of 7 UK-wide locations

    Promoted: September 1989 from Location Manager responsible for sales and distribution of company product to customers in NW England and North Wales, from Local Distribution Centre, Manchester with workforce of Drivers, Warehousemen, Internal & External Sales staff.

    Sales Manager. Responsible for marketing and sales of water conservation products to customers in industry, commerce, national and local government. Successful in considerably increasing company’s penetration of local and central government clients by negotiation with key personnel within Civil Service and Town/County Halls. This was an interim position while seeking a return to "mainstream" industry.

    IMI Yorkshire Imperial Plastics Ltd - June 1974 to February 1986

    LEEDS

    Commercial Manager. Setting up new commercial function based at Leeds H.O. formed from amalgamation of 4 former sales & distribution offices and the technical services department.

    Duties & Responsibilities included:

    • inauguration and management of National Sales Office;
    • management of National Technical Services Department;
    • restructuring of distribution networks, using company fleet and negotiating rates with sub-contracted hauliers;
    • inauguration and management of computerised Sales Order Processing System;
    • compilation & design of new suite of sales & marketing literature;
    • market research to monitor fast-changing and volatile market conditions.

    Promoted: September 1985 from Regional Manager. Responsible for management of team of internal & external sales staff based at Wrexham, selling & promoting Plastics Building Products to construction and water industries, having developed the necessary infrastructure from former ad hoc order office, factory despatch department, and parts of existing field sales forces.

    Distribution to customers by use of dedicated fleet of vehicles and contracted hauliers.

    Lecturing to students, craftsmen, architects and specifiers within central & local government on technical aspects and usage of products.

    Promoted: August 1980 from Technical Representative, responsible for sales of plastics building products to construction and water industries, and training of apprentices in their use, in Greater Manchester & Cheshire
